Is Buc-ee's coming to Utah?
There's talk about the legendary gas station opening a location in Spanish Fork, Utah. Here's what we know.
UPDATE 7/24: Spanish Fork City debunked the rumor that they’re getting Utah’s first Buc-ee’s, saying in a Facebook post:
Some say if you whisper “Buc-ee’s” three times at sunset, a beaver appears with a brisket sandwich.
That’s about as real as the Texas-sized rumor going around.
Should that ever change, we’ll let you know.
There's buzz across Utah social media about Buc-ee's potentially opening a location in Spanish Fork. The talk started with an Instagram video from Alex Kirry at KSL Sports Zone, and it has Utah residents excited about the possibility of getting their first taste of the legendary Texas travel center chain.
While nothing has been officially confirmed by Buc-ee's or Spanish Fork city officials, the speculation has people talking about what it would mean to have one of these massive travel centers in Utah County.
What we know about Buc-ee's expansion plans
Buc-ee's has been on an aggressive expansion streak, moving well beyond their Texas roots. Here are the locations they've officially announced:
Brunswick, Georgia: July 2025
Harrison County, Mississippi: 2025
Rockingham County, Virginia: June 30, 2025
Huber Heights, Ohio: April 2026
San Marcos, Texas: May 2026
Monroe County, Georgia: Early 2026
Boerne, Texas: 2026
Ocala, Florida: 2026
Goodyear, Arizona: June 2026
Benton, Arkansas: September 2026
Mebane, North Carolina: Late 2026 or Early 2027
The westward push continues
What makes the Utah speculation interesting is that Buc-ee's is confirmed to be eyeing Idaho for their first location in that state. The company is in early planning stages for a travel center in Meridian, Idaho, which would put them just a few hours north of Utah.
The Idaho location would be 74,000 square feet, cost more than $50 million to build, and employ between 175 and 225 people. This would mark their first location in Idaho and their westernmost location to date.
Would Spanish Fork really get a Bucc-ee’s?
If the Spanish Fork talk turns into reality, Utah would get its first taste of what Buc-ee's is famous for: massive travel centers with 100+ gas pumps, spotless bathrooms, and thousands of snack options. Buc-ee's is known for clean bathrooms and many fueling positions, but they're really destinations unto themselves.
These aren't your typical gas stations. We're talking about 50,000+ square foot complexes that serve as full travel centers with everything from fresh barbecue to their famous Beaver Nuggets snacks.
The timeline question
Even if Spanish Fork talks are real, the timeline would likely put any opening well into 2026 or beyond, based on Buc-ee's typical development schedule. The company usually announces locations 18-24 months before opening.
For now, Utah residents will have to wait and see if the Spanish Fork speculation turns into an official announcement. But with Idaho potentially getting their first location soon, Utah could be next in line for the Buc-ee's expansion into the Mountain West.
Loving the Spanish Fork theories. Maybe just zoom out on that Utah County map a bit..... Beloved Utahans, I can neither confirm nor deny---keep your snack game strong and don't shut down that dream just yet.-
