After months of cold temperatures and seemingly endless views of brown grass and dead trees, springtime can really invigorate and renew our sense of adventure.

If you’d like to get outside and breathe in the fresh air, here are some beginner-level to moderate hikes you can try. Make sure you tell a friend or family member exactly where you’ll be, in case you run into any trouble along the way.

1. Birdsong Trail has amazing views as it runs along the east bench in Ogden. Take either the Rainbow or 20th Street Trailhead.

2. The Ogden River Parkway takes you nearly 10 miles around downtown Ogden, but it feels like you’re nowhere near the city.

3. Cecret Lake is a popular hike for Utahns and tourists alike, and gives spectacular views of an alpine lake and wildflowers in the summer.

4. Ensign Peak is the spot if you want to take some amazing views of the Salt Lake valley.

5. Check out the Jordan River Parkway, which is a bunch of trails that run along the Jordan River between Utah Lake and the Great Salt Lake.

6. Silver Lake is located at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon, and is a popular and easy walk around a mountain lake.

7. 6 miles east of Kamas is Beaver Creek Trail, which is also located near a campground.

8. Farm Trails is up in the Park City area, and is a relatively easy hike on paved trails.

9. Battle Creek Falls is less than 2 miles round trip, and even includes a waterfall.

10. No self-respecting Utah hiking guide would be complete without mentioning Grotto Falls in the Nebo Scenic Loop.

11. The Oquirrh Wave and Serengeti Trail System is a popular path for horseback, ATVs and hikers alike.

12. If you make it to Black Dragon Canyon, check out the pictographs, and be on the lookout for dinosaur bones!

13. There’s also a lot of rock art at Horseshoe Canyon.

Get out the gardening tools and plant those flowers, trees and shrubs you’ve been thinking about all winter! Here’s a list of greenhouses, garden centers and nurseries with people who know the Utah landscape and climate.

14. Western Garden Centers has locations in Sandy, West Valley City and downtown Salt Lake City.

15. Millcreek Gardens has gardening supplies and plants to help you get inspired.

16. For those up in the Davis County area, check out J&J Garden Center in Layton.

17. Vineyard Garden Center is located off Geneva Road in Orem.

18. Star Nursery has locations in Washington City and St. George in Southern Utah.

When the weather is nice, there’s no reason to eat inside! Pack a picnic basket full of sandwiches, fresh fruit and veggies, and bottles of water for an easy and fun lunch in the park.

19. Enjoy the fire pits, camping facilities and views at North Fork Park in Ogden.

20. Weber Memorial Park also has fire pits and picnic tables.

21. Leave the hustle of the city behind, and head out to Antelope Island State Park for your picnic.

22. You’ll definitely enjoy the views at Bountiful City Park.

23. Sugar House Park in Salt Lake is huge, and has plenty of picnic pavilions and places for the kids to play.

24. Liberty Park is the oldest park in Utah, with plenty of fun things to do like playgrounds, paddleboats and the nearby Tracy Aviary.

25. There are tennis and basketball courts at Willow Creek Park to keep everyone busy.

26. Visit City Park in Park City to experience fresh air and beautiful scenery.

27. Galley Lane Park is located in Stansbury Park, and features picnic benches and a playground for the kids.

28. Tooele City Park is just one of the many parks in Tooele City.

29. Benjamin Park has a baseball diamond, restrooms and a pavilion.

30. Canyon View Park in Spanish Fork is a gem in Utah County, with places to BBQ, picnic tables and a sand volleyball court.

31. There are plenty of great views of St. George to be found in Pioneer Park.

32. Also in St. George is Cottonwood Cove Park, which sprawls across 7 acres near the Santa Clara River.

From the forests of northern Utah to the Four Corners region, it’s high time you took a day trip to a part of the state you’ve never been to!

33. Take State Route 143 between Parowan and Panguitch, which is also known as the Brian Head-Panguitch Lake Scenic Byway.

34. A good place to see green forests and red rocks in the same day is the La Sal Mountain Loop near Moab.

35. The Four Corners Monument is a place where you can literally be in four different states at once.

36. The Bonneville Salt Flats are world famous. It’s like another world near the Great Salt Lake.

37. See and touch over 1,500 dinosaur bones in person at Dinosaurland in Vernal.

38. Bear Lake State Park has sandy beaches and crystal-clear water.
