Utah Has The Highest Percentage Of Adults With Mental Illness In The United States, Study Finds
According to a survey by NiceRx, Utah has the highest rate of mental illness in the US, with nearly 30% of adults experiencing mental health issues.
SALT LAKE CITY – With about 30% of its adult population experiencing a mental health issue, Utah has the highest rate of adult Americans with mental illness.
This is according to a study by NiceRx.
The Drug Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration estimates that 51,000 people aged 12 to 17 in the state suffer from depression, while 139,000 adults in the state have a significant mental disease.
These figures are alarming, particularly in light of the worsening of mental health issues in the US caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Almost three in ten persons have reported symptoms of anxiety and/or depressive disorder since May 2020, indicating that the pandemic has contributed to an upsurge in mental health difficulties across the nation.
Regrettably, more than half of Americans with mental health conditions did not obtain any therapy in the previous year.
In Utah, for example, 49.4% of 196,000 adults did not receive care because it was too expensive.
This is true even though the Affordable Care Act requires insurance to cover mental health services.
